Journey to France, summer 2001, Part 1

Do you want to follow my family and me on a journey to France in summer 2001? If so, enjoy the pictures I will post during the next weeks. In addition to the pictures I will give some extracts from my diary of the journey. (Excuse me for not translating the entries into English, that’s a matter of authenticity and – moreover – time…)

We startet on wednesday, July 11, 2001 at Laxenburg near Vienna. Near Graz we stopped for a snack at a parking place. Stayed overnight at Vicenza, camping “Torre di Quartesolo”.

Thu, July 12, 2001, wie went on to Menton. On our way we took a meal at one of those restaurants above the highway. I drew the sight from up there. At Menton we put up our tents at the local camping.

Fri, July 13, 2001, Menton: In the afternoon we go to the beach. Along the boulevard at the beach people get ready to watch the parade of the national holiday, people on the balconies have the best sight: Die Parade besteht aus vielen Oldtimern und einigen Tanzgruppen – am witzigsten davon eine “Negerband” samt Tänzerinnen mit Kokosnuss-BHs und Baströckchen, bauchtanzend. Des Nachts sehen wir noch Les feux d’artifices, ein beeindruckendes Feuerwerk.
